Short UFO fact: [4 Apr 1966, Bourke's Flat, Evening. Mr Ron Sullivan, 38, a steel construction businessman from Maryborough was travelling in his car towards St Arnaud. While approaching the town at ninety five km/h he noticed in the distance a light which he thought was a tractor in the paddock. As he came close, to his amazement the beams of his headlights were bent to the right, off the road and onto the paddock. Visible in the paddock was a brilliant white disc, a metre or so across. It was just above the ground. From its upper surface projected a conical array of shimmering rainbow coloured lights extending to a height of five metres. Suddenly, the coloured cone rose to a height of six metres and the disc below climbed above it. The next moment the entire light complex vanished. He stopped to check his headlights but found nothing wrong. Three days later a nineteen year old youth, driving a car, was killed at the same spot in mysterious circumstances.(Victorian UFO Research Society.]

Short UFO fact: [North America has provided its share of enigmatic prehistoric drawings. A particularly impressive one can be found at Canyonlands National Park, in Utah. There, a duo of unusual creatures (remarkably similar to those depicted at Tassili) is engaged in strange activity: one of them appears to be pointing an item at the ground--a flashlight? Farther south, an artist of Mexico's Tlatilco culture drew a perfect image of a little man who gives the impression of wearing boots and a square helmet.]

Short UFO fact: [Tulsa, Oklahoma; August 3, 1965. At about 1:30 AM, Mr. A. L. Smith, accompanied by his 14 year old son Alan, and three other witnesses , were captivated with watching an unusual, multi-colored UFO. Mr. Smith was a turbine engine specialist, working with American Airlines. The unknown object seemed to be slowly moving toward the five witnesses. Still some several hundred yards away, it paused briefly and hovered. At that precise moment, Alan snapped a photograph with his inexpensive camera, using ASA 64 film. His picture was extensively analyzed, pronounced authentic, and later published by Life magazine and many newspapers.]

Short UFO fact: [Vaucluse Beach, a suburb of Sydney, would be the location of a close encounter of the eerie kind. On July 19, 1965, a little after 5:00 P.M. Dennis Crowe, a one-time technical artist for English aircraft companies, was strolling along the beach, located not far from his home. In the distance, he began to see a glow, and as he moved closer, he could make out the shape of a disc-shaped object, sitting on legs on the sandy beach. Crowe guessed the object's diameter at 20 feet, and he could now see a glowing blue-green hue rim around it, with the craft's two parts a dullish gray. The top appeared to be a transparent dome. The disc shaped craft was sitting silently. Crowe had made his first observations at several hundred feet, and as he came to within about 60 feet, the object lifted itself from the ground. Crowe could now hear a sound... a sound like air being forced out of a balloon. The disc shaped UFO quickly climbed into the air, and within about 10 seconds, it had disappeared.]

Short UFO fact: [On the sunny July morning in 1965 that John Hembling, geologist and exploration manager for a mining company, and a companion geologist stepped from a helicopter atop a mountain ridge in north-central British Columbia. After the helicopter left," Hembllng told us, "when we saw a silvery object, shining in the sun, appear over a small ridge below us. It had a flattened-out look and our first reaction was that it was some kind of delta-wing aircraft. We soon realized it was not." The object was about 50 ft. in diameter, on top of its dome there was a little knob, and around the base of the dome there were circular markings. They might have been some kind of riveting, or even windows. After that UFO gone 20 or 25 miles by the time it disappeared. That would give it a speed of at least 3,600 m.p.h.]

Suddenly all three men saw a number of lights race noiselessly across the sky, from horizon to horizon, in a few seconds. They gave the impression of about 30 luminous beads, arranged in a crescent shape. A few moments later another similar formation flashed across the night.]

Short UFO fact: [Newfoundland, Canada - 1951. On February 10, a US Navy flight, Atlantic/Continental Air Transport Squadron one, located at USN Air Station, Patuxent River, Maryland, was out of Keflavik, Iceland at 49-50 degrees north latitude and 50-03 degrees west longitude about 150 kilometers [90 miles] west of Gander, Newfoundland out over the Atlantic Ocean. The aircraft was probably bound for Gander to refuel judging by its position and course of 230 degrees true, though the report does not mention this.]

Short UFO fact: [A classic UFO film was taken on August 15, 1950, by Nicolas Mariana, general manager of the Great Falls "Selectrics" baseball team. This film was listed as Top Secret and, although now declassified, is still considered an "unknown." Note that in government "releases" (National Archives, etc.), the distant objects in the frames almost don't show up. However, even the TNT versions (as you will see later) show that the objects were clearly visible and oval-shaped, especially in the early footage.]

Many people claimed that anchors of these sky "ships" had become lodged in the rooves of buildings and showed them to the clergy. Agobard heard the rumor that four of these sylphs had been captured, and that they claimed to be from "Magonia," a land high up in the clouds. These four beings were apparently stoned to death by an angry mob. Agobard dismissed the rumors because they contradict the Bible, which has no mention of such an aerial kingdom.]

All the car's dashboard gauges dropped to zero, and headlights and dashboard lights flickered, and went off for one second, then came back on again. The driver feels the engine may have stalled momentarily. He also felt a twinge like an electric shock. Scared, they accelerated away with the car now behaving normally.]

Short UFO fact: [Aug 1979, Mt Tibrogargan, Mr and Mrs H. were travelling back to Brisbane from a day trip to Caloundra in their 1977 Suzuki LJ50 4 WD soft top motor vehicle. There were no other vehicles on the road, front or rear. The car was suddenly engulfed in a most tremendous noise, like a giant humming top. The car lights faded out, and the motor cut out. Mr H managed to steer the vehicle onto a grassy verge. The noise lasted about 10 seconds and then diminished, after which Mr H restarted the car, and proceeded onto the highway. The noise came again and seemed to be on top of the vehicle, although the lights and engine did not cut out this time. The noise suddenly departed and faded to the East. No lights were observed as in aircraft or helicopters. Mrs H says the car's interior was lit up with an orange glow, but Mr H was not aware of this. The rest of the trip home was uneventful.]
